    Salary plus benefits based on Teacher Contract

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    The MTSS social emotional learning specialist aligns social-emotional and behavioral intervention systems in collaboration with the school leadership, to create a positive learning environment and school culture. They provide supervision, support and professional development addressing classroom management, school climate topics and individual support to teachers through observation and feedback to improve individualized instruction. This position will be reviewed annually for effectiveness.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    • Lead the implementation of our school-wide behavior plan and support the implementation of social emotional supports.
    • Create and implement a system of recognition through monthly assemblies and other recognition systems. Collaborate with MTSS Support Specialists to oversee the referral of students requiring social-emotional and behavior support, timely implementation of interventions, the progress monitoring of students receiving interventions, and the evaluation of intervention effectiveness.
    • Coordinate implementation of research-based social emotional learning (SEL) and positive behavior interventions aligned a multi-tiered intervention framework.
    • Provide job-embedded professional learning and coaching of social skills curriculum. Co-teach social skills lessons in PreK-5 classrooms.
    • Create, implement and monitor effectiveness of a Reflection Room'.
    • Coordinate intensive individual student behavior plans, coach teachers to implement classroom management systems and positive behavior interventions
    • Maintains cooperative working relationships with parents, staff, and other district personnel.
    • Maintains effective and timely written and oral communication with parents, staff and other school personnel.
    • Works well under pressure and effectively manages and completes multiple tasks with competing deadlines and priorities.
    • Member of the Instructional Leadership Team.
    • Performs others duties as assigned.

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

    • A Multi-Tiered System of Support model and implementation of a MTSS model.
    • Academic and behavior interventions to support high quality instruction for all students and to meet student's individual needs.
    • Restorative Practices.
    • Second Step Social Skills Curriculum
    • Coaching staff through hard conversations.
    • Facilitating a functional behavior assessment and designing evidence-based intervention plans.
    • Collecting survey data from staff, students and parents to monitor school climate and culture perception data.
    • School Improvement Planning process.
    • Supporting teachers through a coaching model.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Current MN teaching license
    • Has or is working on their administrative licensure preferred
    • Experience with co-teaching and collaboration models
    • Experience working with students and families with diverse backgrounds
    • Working knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems and Supports including evidence based academic interventions and supports
    • Experience working with teams to analyze data to make decisions and solve problems
