Member Service Representative II

Build relationships. Find opportunities. Help members move forward.

$20.00–$25.00/hour | Full-Time | In-Branch

At Chief Financial Credit Union, great service starts with listening—and it grows when you recognize another way to help. A conversation about a checking account might reveal a need for a better savings option, a loan, or a digital tool that makes everyday banking easier.

As a Member Service Representative II at our Dearborn branch, you’ll handle complex transactions and member concerns with confidence. You’ll also take an active role in growing member relationships: asking thoughtful questions, recommending relevant solutions, and contributing to branch and Credit Union goals.

This is a senior service role without direct supervisory responsibility. You’ll serve members daily while sharing your knowledge and strong service habits with newer teammates.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist members in person, by phone, and through other assigned service channels.
  • Independently handle complex transactions, advanced account maintenance, and higher-level service requests.
  • Open, close, and maintain consumer accounts in accordance with Credit Union procedures.
  • Ask questions that uncover members’ financial needs and recommend appropriate accounts, loans, services, and digital solutions.
  • Follow through on opportunities and referrals, helping members take the next step toward a solution.
  • Contribute to individual, branch, and Credit Union service and growth goals through consistent, needs-based conversations.
  • Research and resolve member concerns within your authority, aiming to provide a complete answer whenever possible.
  • Use sound judgment to identify exceptions, higher-risk situations, and matters that need escalation.
  • Balance your cash drawer and complete end-of-day procedures accurately.
  • Protect member information by following verification, confidentiality, security, and fraud-prevention procedures.
  • Keep records, reports, and transaction documentation accurate and timely.
  • Support newer employees by answering questions, sharing knowledge, and modeling effective member conversations.
  • Help maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming branch environment.

What Makes You a Great Fit

You’re confident with the everyday work of a branch and ready to take ownership of more complex situations. You know that sales and service work together: you listen carefully, make a relevant recommendation, and follow through without making a member feel pressured.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • One to three years of similar or related experience.
  • Experience handling financial transactions and servicing accounts accurately.
  • A track record of identifying customer or member needs and recommending relevant products or services.
  • The confidence to initiate conversations, make referrals, and work toward branch and Credit Union goals.
  • The ability to resolve many member questions independently while recognizing when to escalate.
  • Strong communication skills, discretion, and tact with members and coworkers.
  • A working knowledge of financial products, digital services, account security, and internal controls.
  • Comfort learning and using core banking systems and other technology.
  • A willingness to mentor peers and contribute to a strong branch team.

Pay, Benefits, and Schedule

Pay: $20.00–$25.00 per hour, based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.

Chief offers Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and BCN HMO medical options with a $500 deductible, employer contributions toward medical, dental, and vision premiums, an eligible medical insurance waiver rebate, a 401(k) employer contribution, $50,000 in employer-paid life insurance, employer-paid short-term and long-term disability coverage, paid holidays, vacation and PTO, and tuition reimbursement after one year of employment, subject to program terms.

This is a full-time, in-branch position. The regular schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:40 a.m.–5:15 p.m., with rotating late nights until 6:00 p.m. and rotating Saturdays from 8:45 a.m.–12:15 p.m. The role may occasionally support another Chief location as needed.
