MS/TELE RN (Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse)

Summa Health is seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/TELE RN) to join the 5 North (5N) unit at Akron Campus. This is a 30-bed acuity-adaptable MS/TELE unit providing comprehensive patient care for a diverse adult population requiring telemetry monitoring and medical-surgical nursing care.

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, telemetry interpretation skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality patient-centered care.

Unit Details

• 30-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:6 depending on patient acuity
• Floating may be required
• Interview required prior to placement

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Document patient care accurately in Epic EMR
• Perform phlebotomy as needed
• Respond effectively to changes in patient condition
• Maintain patient safety and quality care standards

Charge Nurse Responsibilities (if assigned/trained)

• Take patient assignments as needed
• Complete Pyxis and crash cart checks
• Assign admissions and coordinate patient flow
• Serve as liaison to nursing supervisors
• Coordinate staff breaks and meal coverage
• Create shift assignments based on patient care needs

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of recent MS/TELE RN experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience within the last 12 months required
• Recent phlebotomy experience within the last 12 months required
• Charge nurse experience preferred but not required
• Candidates without charge experience must be willing to train

Certifications

• Active RN License
• BLS Certification
• ACLS Certification
