    JOB DESCRIPTION

    JOB TITLE: Attendance Clerk (High School/Middle School)

    WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt

    FUNDING SOURCE: Local

    REPORTS TO: Principal

    PAY GRADE: Paraprofessional 040 (188 Days)- High School

    Paraprofessional 040 (195 Days)- Middle School

    PRIMARY PURPOSE:

    • Maintain accurate and complete student attendance records for the campus.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum Education/Certification:

    • High school diploma or GED

    Special Knowledge/Skills:

    • Have knowledge of state compulsory attendance laws
    • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to effectively use district attendance programs after standard training and with reasonable

    help-desk assistance

    • Proficient in keyboarding, 10-key numerical data entry, and file maintenance
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

    Minimum Experience:

    One (1) year of clerical/secretarial experience or other equivalent experience or background

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    1. Perform all clerical duties necessary to maintain accurate and complete student attendance and

    other student records within established district guidelines

    1. Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student attendance issues

    2. Assist students, teachers, and parents as needed

    3. Receive incoming calls and take reliable messages as needed

    4. Maintain confidentiality of information and student records and maintain loyalty to the district

    5. Remain informed of and comply with state, district, and school policies and regulations

    concerning primary job functions.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    None

    Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Work with frequent interruptions;

    maintain emotional control under stress. Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal

    and written). Standard office equipment, including a personal computer and peripherals. Prolonged sitting;

    occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Repetitive hand motions; frequent

    keyboarding and use of the mouse; occasional reaching. Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15

    pounds). May work prolonged or irregular hours.

    Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and

    District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal

    protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidents immediately to supervisor, and

    being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
