What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $23.89- $28.00/hour, however our target hiring range is $26.00-$27.00. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Who We Are & What You'll Do

The Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for the fiscal health of the city. The DOF leads fiscal analysis and guidance, property assessments, budgeting, accounting functions, enforcement of fiscal policies, practices and procedures for the entire City and County of Denver. The DOF fulfills the state statutory responsibilities for tax assessment and collection. DOF also manages the City's debt portfolio and investment portfolio. The DOF commits to delivering these services through a financial structure that reflects the best practices of both the public and private sectors. This commitment promotes better service, enhanced performance measures, maximum accountability, and improved business processes.

About Denver Motor Vehicle

Denver Motor Vehicle (DMV) is authorized as an agent of the State Department of Revenue as outlined in the Colorado Revised Statutes to register and title vehicles and to collect, record, and deposit all taxes and fees prescribed for vehicles owned or operated by residents and business owners within the City and County of Denver. Our work is highly technical, but the way we serve people matters just as much. We strive to provide accurate, respectful and efficient service while creating a workplace where team members support one another, communicate openly and take pride in serving Denver.

Specifically, as a DMV Motor Vehicle Agent you will:

• · Process title, registration, license renewal and permit transactions by confirming customer identity and county of residence, reviewing legal documents for completeness and accuracy, determining the correct transaction type and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local statutes, rules and regulations.
• · Provide friendly, professional and solution-focused customer service in person and through other service channels. Explain title and registration requirements, taxes and fees, emissions and insurance requirements, statutes, policies and procedures in a clear and understandable way, and work with customers to resolve questions or concerns.
• · Assess, calculate and collect applicable taxes, registration fees and other charges; accurately cashier transactions, maintain and reconcile an assigned cash drawer, resolve balancing issues and enter transaction information into the State motor vehicle system.
• · Process work received through multiple channels, including mail and online services, by reviewing documentation for completeness and compliance, issuing registration documents and validation tabs, identifying rejected transactions and providing clear correspondence regarding missing requirements, fees or next steps.
• · Use statutes, procedures, job aids, system resources and research materials to independently determine requirements while knowing when to involve a lead or supervisor for complex or escalated situations.
• · Maintain assigned State inventory, records and files; protect confidential information; and follow established controls, accountability requirements and office procedures.
• · Contribute to a respectful, collaborative and flexible workplace by communicating effectively with teammates and leadership, supporting changing business needs, working efficiently in a high-volume environment and performing other related duties as assigned.

• · Comfort using computers and office technology, basic math and cash-handling skills, and the flexibility to work at different branch locations based on department needs. Bilingual skills are a plus.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.

Experience Requirement: One (1) year of clerical experience which includes customer service involving the explanation of rules and regulations.

Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

License/Certifications: By position, requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.

Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
