Motion Control, Robotics & Test Systems Engineer

• Are you comfortable visiting customer sites, leading portions of new line launches, and juggling multiple projects?
• Do you mentor junior engineers while still diving deep into ladder logic, safety circuits, and motion control tuning?

What You’ll Build

• Industrial equipment and testers:
  • Air‑decay and displacement measurement stations; pick‑to‑light systems
  • NVH testers and multi‑panel test setups
  • Component testers for 2‑pin/3‑pin Hall‑effect sensors, bearings, and chains
  • Hi‑Pot tester hardware/software interfaces with data logging
  • Vision Inspection Systems and barcode solutions
  • Electrical controls for hydraulic and pneumatic presses
• Controls architectures covering motion/motor control, PLC/HMI selection and programming, servo/DC/three‑phase/VFD integration, relay‑based safety, and DAQ selection.
• Robotic and automated cells (industrial and collaborative), including layout, safeguarding, end‑of‑arm tooling, and robot programming.
• Standards and documentation for electrical/mechanical designs and preventive/predictive maintenance.
• Electrical panel layouts; updated design packages; project management deliverables.
• Recommendations for repair, redesign, or rebuild based on equipment condition.

Your Qualifications

• BS or advanced degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field.
• Experience with DAQ and control: NI hardware, Measurement Computing; PLCs (AutomationDirect, Allen‑Bradley, Omron, etc.); Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
• Robotics/automation: cell design, safety, EOAT selection, robot programming.
• Industrial machine design and implementation.
• Electrical schematics (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Visio); mechanical drawings (Inventor); pneumatic/hydraulic schematics.
• Hydraulic/pneumatic fundamentals and component selection.
• PLC and HMI programming (Ladder Logic or similar); LabVIEW interfacing.
• Sensors and signal conditioning (Dataforth, Analog Devices); wiring, shielding, grounding, and noise mitigation best practices.
• PCB design familiarity; PC‑based GUI/HMI development; data storage to Microsoft Access and SQL.
• Vision and ID: Cognex Vision Systems and barcode scanners; exposure to Keyence and Banner product lines.
• Motors and drives: DC and three‑phase selection/control; VFD selection, wiring, control, and programming.
• Relay control, safety relays/circuits; industrial comms (Ethernet, Modbus).
• Maintenance know‑how for electrical/mechanical/industrial equipment; electrical panel layout and build.
• Analog sensing (pressure, torque); comfort inferring machine behavior with minimal documentation.
• Strong communicator; lean and continuous improvement mindset; organized project manager; rigorous technical writer; persistent problem solver and troubleshooter.
