Base Salary: Generally $37,440 - $41,000

In addition to base salary, this position is commission eligible.

Actual starting base pay will be determined based on several factors including skill, experience, expertise, education and location.

Position: Mortgage Loan Officer

Reports to: Mortgage Sales Manager

Role Summary:

Solicit and originate first lien residential permanent and construction mortgage loans. Interface with the customers and be responsible for taking applications and negotiating or accepting mortgage loan terms. Key responsibilities include soliciting potential customers by making outside sales calls on realtors, builders, developers, CPAs, attorneys, and other professionals, as well as making inside sales calls on branches.

Specific Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities):

  • Solicit residential first lien mortgages through contacts with realtors, builders, developers, and other professionals.
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with branches to help branch personnel keep mortgages top-of-mind when dealing with their clients and to ensure that they are comfortable in referring their clients to the mortgage personnel.
  • Interview applicants to develop information concerning their needs, desires, and financial situation to assist in determining how best to meet the needs of those applicants
  • Obtain and analyze from the applicants pertinent financial, economic, and credit data needed in order to make informed decisions.
  • Negotiate loan terms and conditions with applicants.
  • Keep informed about trends and developments in the local real estate market, as well as the dynamic rules and regulations pertaining to both private and government-insured mortgage loans.
  • Call on potential or existing customers as assigned to develop new business or retain existing business.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:

  • Thorough knowledge of all applicable laws, requirements, regulations, and rules relating to mortgage lending and real estate, including RESPA, SAFE Act, BSA, Reg B, Reg Z, HOEPA, and others.
  • Ability to build and maintain a residential mortgage loan pipeline.
  • Ability to act as the primary liaison with borrowers throughout the entire loan process, from initial inquiry/application to closing.
  • Experience in originating mortgage loans and documenting loan files in a manner that facilitates final approval of the loans.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to sell and refer mortgages and other Bank products and services.
  • The ability to organize and schedule daily appointments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work under pressure, while maintaining good customer and staff relations.
  • Ability to obtain and hold an NMLS Registration number.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Finance or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of mortgage lending experience preferred.
  • One or more years in community banking preferred.
  • Knowledge of Real Estate markets preferred.
