    Description

At Rocket, we believe homeownership should be accessible, simple, and empowering. But we know the path can be complicated, stressful, and full of unknowns. That’s where you come in.

As a Mortgage Loan Officer, you’re on the front lines helping clients make one of the most important financial decisions of their lives. Whether you’re working with a first-time home buyer or someone refinancing to create new opportunities, your work helps more people find lasting prosperity. You’ll also build your own earnings and develop proven sales expertise with every conversation.

You don’t need mortgage experience or a book of business to start here. What matters most is your willingness to learn, your drive to sharpen your craft and compete at a high level, and your honest, compassionate approach to guiding clients through a system that can be tough to navigate alone.

    What you'll do

    • Speak on the phone with leads generated by Rocket's marketing engine, giving you access to significantly more inbound volume than most MLOs receive, so you can focus on conversations instead of prospecting.

    • Ask the right questions to understand each client's personal financial story and guide them through their home loan options, from buying a first home to consolidating debt with a refinance.

    • Support clients through every stage of the mortgage process with transparency so nothing catches them off guard.

    • Use Rocket Logic, our in-house AI assistant, to provide real-time guidance during client conversations, helping you answer questions quickly and keep every interaction personal.

    How you'll start

We know starting something new comes with uncertainty, so we're upfront about our process.

    • If we move forward with your application, we'll run a soft credit check to verify you're licensable. This is a standard industry requirement, and we're assessing the financial integrity expected of someone handling client finances, not reaching a specific score. Most applicants pass this stage without issue.

    • You don't need to be licensed to apply. Rocket Mortgage pays for your training and the full licensing process, so you can start here even if this is brand new to you.

    • During your first two weeks, you'll prepare for and take the SAFE licensing exam. We cover all training costs and exam fees because we're invested in setting you up to succeed.

    • Once licensed, you'll step into our best-in-class training program to learn our tools, workflow, and how to run confident, effective client conversations. It's immersive and intensive at first, then settles into a regular rhythm once you're on the floor.

    Compensation and career growth

We're transparent about how pay works here.

Your compensation includes an hourly rate set by location plus incentives with no cap, so your earnings reflect your effort and results. Your recruiter will share specifics during your interview process.

Growth here is based on performance, not tenure. Top Mortgage Loan Officers at each level are promoted every quarter, and there's a visible, repeatable path forward from Mortgage Loan Officer to Senior, Executive, and beyond.

    Who succeeds here

People who thrive tend to be skilled at building trust and listening with empathy, especially on the phone, and they stay focused on solutions even when things get complicated.

They're coachable and quick to apply feedback, self-motivated and goal-oriented with the openness to adapt as goals are tracked and coached frequently.

Success here also means staying comfortable as the market, technology and process continues to evolve.

    Where you'll work

Rocket Mortgage Loan Officer positions are hybrid and based in one of our banking centers, including Detroit, Cleveland, Cypress Waters (Dallas-Fort Worth), Lake Forest, and Phoenix.

This is not a remote-anywhere role, and you'll need to live in or relocate to the region tied to the specific opening you apply for.
