This is an ideal position for physicians who want to supplement their income, gain additional clinical experience, or transition into outpatient practice while maintaining schedule flexibility.

Whether you are a resident or fellow currently completing training or an experienced physician looking for supplemental shifts, KARE CENTER offers a supportive environment, a collaborative team, and competitive hourly compensation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients presenting with acute and chronic medical conditions in an outpatient primary care or urgent care setting
  • Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations and develop evidence-based treatment plans
  • Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic studies including laboratory tests, imaging, and EKGs
  • Prescribe medications and therapies within the scope of your license and applicable protocols
  • Perform clinical procedures as needed (e.g., wound care, injections, minor procedures)
  • Provide patient education on diagnoses, medications, follow-up care, and preventive health
  • Document all patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
  • Collaborate with advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and clinical support team to ensure quality patient care
  • Coordinate referrals and follow-up as clinically appropriate
  • Adhere to all KARE CENTER policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory compliance standards

Who We Are Looking For

  • MD or DO with an active, unrestricted Michigan medical license (or eligible to obtain one)
  • Current resident or fellow in an ACGME-accredited program with valid moonlighting privileges from their training program — strongly encouraged to apply
  • Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or a related specialty preferred
  • Current DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Experience with or willingness to learn Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
  • Strong clinical judgment, professional communication, and team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work independently and manage a busy patient panel with confidence

Schedule & Compensation

  • Flexible scheduling — day, evening, and weekend shifts available to accommodate residency or fellowship schedules
  • Per-diem, part-time, and ongoing shift arrangements available
  • Competitive hourly rate: $125 - $200 per hour (based on experience and specialty)
  • Paid malpractice/professional liability coverage for all shifts worked
  • No long-term commitment required — ideal for residents needing moonlighting income

Why KARE CENTER?

  • Pre-charted workflows and efficient EHR setup designed to minimize documentation time
  • Collaborative team of physicians, PAs, NPs, and nurses
  • Convenient Ann Arbor, MI location — accessible for residents training at University of Michigan, Michigan Medicine, and surrounding programs
  • Opportunity to convert to a full-time role upon completion of training if desired
