Montessori Primary Assistant Teacher – Full-Time or Part-Time Closing Position

Montessori Academy of Upland is looking for a dependable, caring, and energetic Assistant Teacher to join our Primary Montessori program, serving children approximately ages 3–6.

We are primarily looking for someone who can help with our afternoon and closing coverage through 6:00 p.m. We can offer either a part-time or full-time schedule, depending on availability.

Schedule Options

Part-Time Closing Position

  • Must be available to work at least 3 hours each afternoon

  • Typical schedule would be approximately 3:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.

  • Additional hours may be available

Full-Time / Floater Position

  • Could begin as early as 9:30 a.m.

  • Work as a floater throughout the school, assisting classrooms and providing staff break and lunch coverage

  • Transition to the Primary program in the afternoon to assist with after-school care and closing

  • Must be available to work until 6:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Teacher will work alongside our Montessori teachers to help provide a safe, organized, peaceful, and engaging environment for our students. Responsibilities may include:

  • Supervising children in the classroom, playground, and after-school program

  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities and daily routines

  • Helping maintain appropriate teacher-to-child ratios

  • Providing classroom coverage for staff breaks and lunches

  • Supporting children with transitions, toileting, meals, and other daily needs as appropriate

  • Maintaining a clean, orderly, and inviting Montessori environment

  • Preparing and organizing classroom materials

  • Modeling respectful behavior, appropriate voice levels, and positive interactions

  • Helping with classroom and school cleaning responsibilities

  • Assisting with afternoon snack and closing procedures

  • Communicating professionally with children, parents, coworkers, and school visitors

  • Following all school policies and California Community Care Licensing requirements

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with young children

  • Is patient, dependable, nurturing, and professional

  • Works well as part of a team

  • Is willing to assist wherever needed throughout the school

  • Is comfortable working in a Montessori environment and supporting Montessori principles

  • Can remain actively engaged and attentive while supervising children

  • Is dependable and able to consistently work through 6:00 p.m.

Applicants should have 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units or qualifying coursework in an adjacent field.

CPR/First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained as required for the position.
