Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Director and direct supervision of the Charge RN, the Monitor Technician will perform the following duties:

  • Admit and discharge patients from the cardiac monitoring system 
  • Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry for assigned patients.
  • Communicate cardiac rhythm changes to nursing staff promptly and accurately, as requested or when clinically indicated.
  • Print and interpret cardiac rhythm strips in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure rhythm strips are forwarded to the Unit Secretary for appropriate filing.
  • Manage telemetry equipment and alarm settings in compliance with departmental policies.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to effectively monitor patients, recognize rhythm abnormalities, and communicate findings.
  • Enter billing information for telemetry services and other applicable patient charges accurately and timely.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and patient monitoring standards.

Schedule

FTE: .90 (3-12's shifts)

Hours: 6:45am-7:15pm

Days: Variable

Qualifications:

Education

Required: High School Diploma/GED

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Required: BLS

Special Skills/Qualifications/Additional Training/Experience

Required: Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
