Job Summary

We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Monitor Technician. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Telemetry Monitor Technician is responsible for the continuous observation, interpretation, communication and documentation of cardiac rhythms.  Collaborates with the clinical team in maintaining individualized alarm parameters and alarm audibility per hospital policy.

 

Job Description

  • Documents patient information related to telemetry initiation and discontinuation
  • Escalates actionable alarms to the RN
  • Reports to the charge nurse or nurse manage any issues related to telemetry functions
  • Tracks patients who left for procedures or diagnostic tests
  • Manages alarms including the printing and reviewing of cardiac strips
  • Maintains a log of telemetry usage and availability
  • Tracks telemetry-related equipment and supplies
  • Troubleshoots monitor and transmitter functions with the clinical team and contacts the Biomedical Department as appropriate
  • Assists in the orientation of new monitor technicians to the telemetry monitor system 
  • Performs handoff of appropriate information to the oncoming shift technician
  • Relieves other telemetry monitor technicians when needed
  • Demonstrates commitment to service, the organizational values and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor
  • Maintains confidentiality of protected health information
  • Adheres to organizational and department-specific safety standards and guidelines
  • Works collaboratively and supports efforts of clinical team members
  • Interact effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, and staff
  • Evaluates own needs for learning and seeks appropriate resources to meet those needs
  • Ensures that the organization’s customer service goals are met

 

Skills Required

  • 1 year of acute care experience
  • Vital signs monitoring

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • AHA BLS
  • EKG Certification

 

Additional Requirements

  • Shift: 3:00 PM-11:30 PM; every other weekend

 

Pay rate

  • $27-$31 per hour, based on experience, skills and market factors
