Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Monitor Tech, you will be responsible for continuous observation and analysis of patients cardiac rhythms to detect and report changes.

Every day you will meticulously monitor EKG strips, identify arrhythmias, measure intervals, and promptly communicate critical findings to nursing staff and healthcare providers, ensuring accurate documentation.

To be successful, you will demonstrate sharp observational skills, a thorough understanding of cardiac rhythms, and the ability to act quickly and precisely under pressure, crucial for patient safety and timely intervention.

Reads basic EKG tracings and identifies potential/lethal arrhythmias:

  • Yearly EKG competency completed 100% on lethal arrhythmias
  • Measures out important intervals of the EKG strips: No error noted by EKG certified RNs
  • Complete yearly competency with 80% or more accuracy
  • Check and maintain accurate settings of yellow alarms for each shift
  • Proper documentation/ approval of parameter changes by Physician order or an ECG certified RN
  • Continuously monitors of and identification of dry rhythm changes during 12 hour shift
  • Properly admits a patient to the monitoring system including patients last name/first initial, medical record, diagnosis and physicians name

Job Requirements

Required:

  • High School Graduate (HS/ GED), upon hire

Preferred:

  • One year of Monitor Technician experience
  • Emergency Medical Technician: AZ, upon hire
  • Certified EKG Tech, upon hire
