Job Description
Reporting into the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for the following:
- Lead and manage the internal toolroom, including toolmakers and mold design engineers.
- Drive design-for-manufacturability reviews for new product introductions.
- Evaluate part designs and identify tooling considerations including draft angles, parting lines, shut-offs, wall thickness transitions and undercuts.
- Design, review and optimize injection mold tooling for medical components, connectors and over-molded assemblies.
- Develop tooling concepts covering gating, venting, cooling systems, mold actions, surface finishes and steel conditions.
- Collaborate closely with product development and engineering teams to ensure products are robust, manufacturable and cost-effective.
- Manage relationships with external tooling suppliers and mold manufacturers, both domestically and internationally.
- Support tooling build, validation, troubleshooting and qualification activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency and manufacturing performance.
- Provide technical leadership for tooling-related issues, design changes and sustaining engineering projects.
- Ensure tooling solutions comply with quality and regulatory requirements associated with medical manufacturing.

The Successful Applicant
A successful Mold Tooling Engineering Manager should have:
- Degree not required.
- 10+ years of experience in mold design, tooling, or toolmaking.
- A strong background in engineering, particularly in mold tooling and manufacturing processes.
- Experience using SolidWorks and conducting design for manufacturability.
- Experience in developing and implementing tooling designs and improvements.
- Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations within the medical space or other regulated industry.
- Experience with connectors and cable assembly.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across teams.
