Part-Time Mohs Medical Assistant

Position: Medical Assistant – Mohs SurgeryEmployment Type: Part-TimeLocation: Staunton, VA

We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and compassionate Medical Assistant (MA) to join our dermatology and Mohs surgery team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have experience in dermatology, surgical assisting, or a similar clinical setting and be comfortable working closely with a Mohs surgeon.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Mohs surgeon during surgical procedures.
• Provide hands-on surgical assistance and maintain a sterile field.
• Prepare surgical rooms, instruments, and supplies before procedures.
• Prepare patients for Mohs surgery and assist with pre- and post-operative care.
• Assist with patient positioning and surgical site preparation.
• Assist with wound care, dressing changes, and post-operative instructions.
• Prepare, label, and properly handle tissue specimens according to office protocols.
• Assist with hemostasis, suturing, and other surgical needs as directed by the physician.
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain surgical instruments and treatment rooms.
• Monitor patients throughout their visit and communicate any concerns to the clinical team.
• Document patient information and procedures accurately in the medical record.
• Maintain infection-control and safety standards.
• Provide compassionate and professional patient care.
• Help maintain efficient patient flow in a busy Mohs surgery practice.

Requirements

• Previous Medical Assistant experience required.
• Dermatology or Mohs surgery experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with surgical assisting or outpatient procedures preferred.
• Knowledge of sterile technique and infection-control practices.
• Comfortable working in a surgical environment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and patient-care skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a physician and clinical team.
• Dependable, professional, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.

Preferred Experience

• 1–2+ years of dermatology or Mohs experience preferred.
• Previous experience assisting with dermatologic surgery.
• Familiarity with surgical instruments and specimen handling.
• Experience with wound care and post-operative patient education.
• Experience working directly with a Mohs surgeon.

Schedule & Compensation

Part-Time | Schedule to be discussed based on practice needs and candidate availability.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.
