Description

Job Title: Mohs Medical Assistant

Position Type: Full Time

Travel: Some travel

Job Description: To assist the Provider in providing the utmost direct/indirect quality care to patients with the end goal of making patients feel as if they are family.

Role and Responsibilities

Clinical and Administrative

  • Assist Mohs Surgeons with surgical procedures, sterile setup, and patient preparation
  • Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields, instruments, and procedure trays
  • Assist with surgical closures, bandaging, suture removal, and wound care education
  • Maintain surgical, medication, and supply inventories and communicate ordering needs appropriately
  • Educate patients on post-operative care instructions as directed by the Provider
  • Coordinate and transport necessary supplies, equipment, and materials between assigned clinic locations, as needed
  • Prepare and maintain examination and treatment rooms
  • Assist Providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments
  • Obtain and document patient medical history, vitals, and clinical information accurately within the EMR
  • Collect, label, and process specimens appropriately
  • Perform diagnostic testing, as applicable
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by Providers (excluding controlled substances)
  • Process prescriptions and medication refill requests per Provider instructions
  • Initiate and process prior authorizations as assigned
  • Process incoming voicemails, messages, tasks, and faxes within expected timeframes
  • Monitor expiration dates and properly discard expired medications or samples
  • Maintain infection control and aseptic technique standards
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and maintain required logs
  • Assist with cleaning, organization, and overall maintenance of clinical areas
  • Follow OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA, and company compliance standards at all times

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

High school diploma, AA degree or higher. Medical assistant diploma and certification preferred. Knowledgeable in computer programs, EMR systems, customer service, excellent verbal communication skills.

This is the compensation range for this position.

Compensation Range
$19—$23 USD
