    Description

At Tata Technologies, we make product development dreams a reality by designing, engineering, and validating the products of tomorrow for the world's leading manufacturers. Due to continued growth, we are recruiting for a Module Leader - Structure & BIW.

    THE ROLE

The Module Leader - Structures and Body-in-White (BIW) will establish and lead the Structures Module Team, providing engineering leadership and programme ownership across all body structure, BIW, crash and safety structure, underbody, and corrosion protection content. You will ensure cross-functional input from design, engineering, manufacturing, quality, CAE, homologation, purchasing and supplier disciplines throughout the full product development cycle and into launch. You will take an active role in launch readiness under the Agile in Launch approach.

    AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

You will lead and coordinate the Structures and BIW Module Team, ensuring robust engineering delivery across all body structure commodities from programme start through to launch and early life support. Core responsibilities include:

    • Owning the integrated structures and BIW module plan covering design release milestones, CAE virtual development, tooling release, physical build events, DVP&R and launch readiness gates.
    • Leading the development of the full BIW architecture including front and rear structures, sills, pillars, roof, underbody, closures apertures and body mounting interfaces to meet stiffness, crash safety, NVH, weight, cost and manufacturability targets.
    • Coordinating CAE load cases and structural simulation with the analysis team, ensuring CAE outputs drive design development and issue resolution effectively.
    • Applying DFMEA, DFA, DFM, Robustness, Campaign Prevention, Concurrent Engineering and Manufacturing Feasibility disciplines across all structure commodities.
    • Developing and owning Structural Design Specifications, BIW performance targets and Statements of Work for body structure suppliers and stamping houses.
    • Managing Tier 1 BIW supplier delivery through APQP including tooling development, try-out, validation and production readiness.
    • Leading resolution of structures-related AIMS entries, panel chart findings and CAE-to-physical correlation issues at programme reviews.
    • Maintaining financial governance of the BIW module, monitoring cost versus target and managing structural cost risks and mass optimisation opportunities.
    • Representing the Structures Module at programme reviews, gateway meetings, virtual series CAD reviews, crash sign-off events and customer-facing engineering forums.
    • Coordinating structural interface with closures, exterior, interior, powertrain mounting, chassis and EDS teams to ensure full BIW integration. Actively supporting launch under the Agile in Launch framework: participating in sprint reviews, issue backlog management and rapid engineering response to body structure build findings and dimensional quality issues.
    • Ensuring structure commodities are signed off at End of Line and supporting executive drive preparation where body stiffness, NVH or structural quality are in scope.
    • Driving a culture of structural engineering excellence, delivery pace and cross-functional accountability across the module team.

    KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

Significant experience in automotive body structure or BIW engineering across front or rear structures, underbody, sills, roof, closures apertures or crash safety structure.

Proven track record of module or senior lead engineer delivery on a vehicle programme from concept through production launch including CAE coordination, tooling release and manufacturing integration.

Strong knowledge of BIW design and process, structural DTC, DVP&R, FMEA, crash safety requirements, APQP, dimensional management and programme gateway governance.

Experience managing Tier 1 BIW and stamping suppliers through tooling, try-out, validation and launch milestones.

Degree educated in Mechanical, Automotive, Structural or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience. Proficiency with CATIA, 3DX, Teamcenter or equivalent PLM and DMU tools. Ability to lead technical issue resolution and manage competing engineering and programme priorities under pressure.

    Desirable:

Experience in Agile in Launch methodologies including sprint-based issue resolution, backlog management and rapid response to structural or dimensional build findings during launch.

Experience in advanced lightweight materials, multi-material joining or BEV/HEV battery protection structures would be advantageous.

In return for your expertise, we offer a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package, including:

    • Pension scheme with up to 5% employer contribution
    • 25 days' holiday
    • Private healthcare
    • Group income protection
    • Employee Assistance Program
    • Group life assurance
    • Health cash plan
