Your Job

Molex is seeking an Electrical High-Speed Module Design Engineer to lead the design and qualification of active electrical cables (AECs) and active copper cables (ACCs) for AI, hyperscale data-center, data-storage, and telecommunications applications. You will help create high-performance interconnect solutions that move data reliably at the speeds required by next-generation systems.

In this highly visible role, you will lead module-development work from concept through high-volume production. You will collaborate with signal integrity, hardware, firmware, manufacturing, quality, program management, sales, suppliers, and test-laboratory teams to convert customer and market needs into manufacturable products.

Our Team

Molex brings together innovation and technology to deliver electronic solutions to customers worldwide. With a presence in more than 40 countries, Molex offers solutions and services across data communications, consumer electronics, industrial, automotive, commercial vehicle, and medical markets. This role will support our Copper Solutions Business Unit.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the electrical and module design of AEC and ACC products, from initial concept and architecture through engineering validation, design validation, qualification, and production launch.
  • Develop micro engineering schedules, identify technical risks, coordinate dependencies, and drive design activities to completion with minimal direction.
  • Partner with signal integrity, hardware, firmware, mechanical, thermal, manufacturing-integration, quality, program-management, sales, and laboratory teams to deliver balanced product solutions.
  • Translate inputs from customers, marketing, application engineering, and external partners into product concepts and detailed design requirements.
  • Develop cost-competitive, manufacturable designs that meet electrical, signal-integrity, power, thermal, electromagnetic-interference, reliability, and performance requirements.
  • Resolve design-for-manufacturability (DFM) issues with process engineering, production engineering, suppliers, and manufacturing sites.
  • Engage with leading ASIC vendors and component suppliers to evaluate technologies, interfaces, constraints, and product roadmaps.
  • Provide hands-on technical support during prototype builds, laboratory characterization, qualification, and product launch.
  • Mentor less-experienced engineers and provide technical guidance across multiple new-product-development projects.
  • Travel as needed to collaborate with global teams, suppliers, customers, laboratories, and manufacturing sites.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 3 + years of experience in electrical or optical module design and development, including demonstrated technical leadership.
  • Analog circuit-design skills and a solid understanding of circuit theory, linear systems, feedback, integrated circuits, and high-speed signaling fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop engineering solutions involving signal integrity, power integrity, noise, thermal performance, and electromagnetic interference.
  • Basic knowledge of printed circuit board materials, fabrication processes, assembly processes, and board-level design cycles.
  • Laboratory measurement, troubleshooting, and root-cause-analysis skills.
  • Experience developing electronic products in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to plan complex assignments, manage technical risk, solve problems systematically, and communicate clearly with global stakeholders.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Master''s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Design experience with high-speed, high-density connectors, cable assemblies, pluggable modules, or interconnect products.
  • Experience with active cable architectures, retimers, gearboxes, linear redrivers, or related high-speed ASICs.
  • RF or electromagnetic modeling experience using tools such as CST Studio Suite or Ansys HFSS.
  • Experience with electronic CAD tools and electronic-system modeling.
  • Understanding of microprocessors, embedded systems, and real-time-control firmware.
  • Practical knowledge of Six Sigma and product-development tools, including design of experiments (DOE) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Experience applying project-management methods to deliver technical work against milestones, dependencies, and deadlines.

For this role, we anticipate paying $120,000- $140,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
