Mobile Utility Equipment Diagnostic Technician
Custom Truck One Source (CTOS) is hiring an experienced field expert to support customers across the Baltimore, Hagerstown, and Washington, DC corridor. You’ll be the trusted pro called when specialized utility trucks and equipment need fast, accurate diagnosis and repair—right where they work.
A Day in the Field
Start your day from home, review your service calls, and roll out in your fully equipped CTOS service truck (crane, compressor, welder, phone, computer). On site, you’ll evaluate issues on bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, service trucks, and other utility and construction equipment. You’ll dive into mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems—troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance to keep fleets safe and productive. After a repair, you’ll road test to verify performance, document the work, and communicate updates to customers and our internal team. Throughout the day, you’ll manage your schedule independently while collaborating with the CTOS Field Service team to deliver exceptional support.
What You’ll Tackle
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy and utility equipment at customer sites.
- Execute mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic repairs and adjustments.
- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance to maximize uptime.
- Road test equipment post-repair to confirm safe, proper operation.
- Accurately document services performed and communicate professionally with customers and CTOS teams.
- Independently manage field service calls and parts inventory on your truck.
- Operate and maintain a company-provided service truck safely and efficiently.
What You Bring
- Hands-on experience as a Field Service, Heavy Equipment, Truck, or Utility Equipment Technician.
- Class B CDL required.
- Strong diagnostic capabilities across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Proven success working independently in the field.
- Clear documentation habits with strong organization and time-management.
- Professional customer communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel throughout Baltimore, Hagerstown, and Washington, DC, including occasional overnights.
