Mobile Equipment Manager

Position Overview

At Midsouth Aggregates, our mobile equipment fleet plays a critical role in safely and efficiently supporting production across our operations. The Mobile Equipment Manager is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, utilization, and overall lifecycle management of mobile equipment within assigned areas of the business.

This position partners closely with operations leadership, maintenance teams, equipment dealerships, and manufacturers to maximize fleet performance and support operational success. The successful candidate will evaluate equipment needs, coordinate major repairs and rebuilds, support fleet replacement planning, and provide recommendations that improve equipment reliability, productivity, and long-term value.

What You'll Do

Lead Fleet Performance

• Oversee the performance, maintenance, utilization, and availability of mobile equipment across assigned operations.
• Monitor equipment costs, downtime, reliability, and utilization to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Evaluate equipment condition and lifecycle needs, providing recommendations for repairs, rebuilds, replacements, and disposals.
• Partner with operations teams to ensure equipment is aligned with production goals and business needs.

Support Fleet Planning

• Collaborate with operations leadership to identify current and future equipment needs.
• Support annual fleet planning and provide recommendations for equipment replacement and capital investments.
• Assist with equipment specifications, sourcing efforts, and fleet standardization initiatives.
• Utilize equipment performance and cost data to support informed business decisions.

Manage OEM & Dealer Relationships

• Serve as a key liaison with equipment manufacturers, dealerships, and service providers.
• Coordinate major repairs, rebuild programs, warranty claims, and vendor-supported maintenance activities.
• Stay informed on emerging equipment technologies and industry best practices.

Provide Operational Support

• Serve as a technical resource to operations and maintenance teams on equipment-related best practices.
• Partner with site leadership to identify opportunities to improve equipment utilization, productivity, and equipment care.
• Provide occasional field observations and in-cab coaching, as needed, to reinforce safe and efficient operating practices.

Drive Safety & Continuous Improvement

• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Promote maintenance excellence, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across the fleet.
• Communicate fleet performance, opportunities, and recommendations to leadership.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of experience managing or supporting heavy mobile equipment fleets in aggregates, mining, construction, or a related industry.
• Experience working directly with equipment dealerships, OEM representatives, and external service providers.
• Strong understanding of heavy equipment maintenance, fleet utilization, and equipment lifecycle management.
• Experience evaluating fleet needs and making recommendations related to equipment replacement, rebuilds, and capital planning.
• Ability to build credibility with operators, mechanics, site leadership, and senior management.
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting operator development or equipment performance improvement initiatives is a plus.
