Where You’ll Work

This is a remote field role based in San Jose, CA, supporting PALFINGER customers across the region. You will report to the Regional Field Service Manager.

A Day In The Field

Your morning might start with an emergency diagnostic on a truck-mounted articulating crane that went down overnight. After getting it safely back in service, you’ll head to a customer yard to perform scheduled quarterly maintenance on a fleet of truck-mounted forklifts and conveyors. In the afternoon, you’ll complete an Annual DOT inspection, update your work orders and parts usage, and call a fleet manager to explain recommended repairs. Before you wrap, you’ll tidy your service vehicle and tools so you’re ready for the next call—whenever it comes.

What You’ll Do

  • Troubleshoot and repair articulating cranes, truck-mounted forklifts, conveyors, trucks, and trailers—often independently and on-site.
  • Complete quarterly preventive maintenance to customer schedules, as well as Annual DOT inspections and warranty service.
  • Respond to urgent, unscheduled service needs during regular and off-hours.
  • Clearly communicate issues, findings, and repair recommendations to job site contacts and fleet managers.
  • Create accurate, timely service documentation: estimates, authorizations, parts ordering and usage, labor time, and inventory records.
  • Follow all applicable state and federal safety regulations.
  • Keep your company vehicle, tools, and work areas organized and clean.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on expertise with mechanical systems, hydraulics, electrical diagnostics, troubleshooting, and welding.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather; able to sit, stand, bend, squat, crouch, reach, and lift 75 lbs+ for sustained periods.
  • Approximately 3+ years of mechanical experience or training, ideally with articulating cranes and forklifts.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Valid CDL or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Your own standard tools (PALFINGER-specific tools provided).
