    Description

Relocation to the United States — Norfolk, Virginia. We provide the NATO-5 visa for you and your family.

This post is a full employment contract with our delivery partner, with the benefits that go with it — not a contractor or B2B arrangement. Agreeing to be employed is the first condition of the role.

A multinational defence organisation sends its people all over the world and hosts high-profile events at home and abroad. This post supports the force protection team: it is the dedicated attention that travelling staff and event attendees get on safety and security matters.

    What you would be doing

    • Analysing the travel database to identify high-risk destinations and critical locations for staff on duty travel.
    • Collecting and analysing security information from open sources, classified reporting and local advisories to assess risk ahead of travel.
    • Giving travellers comprehensive security briefings — protocols, local risks and mitigation tailored to the individual mission.
    • Developing security plans for high-risk events and missions in line with organisational security policy.
    • Running regular risk assessments and security audits, and leading site surveys to find vulnerabilities at planned venues.
    • Examining attendee lists for non-member participants and evaluating the counter-intelligence risk they carry.
    • Preparing security briefs for senior approval, and being present at venues during events to give oversight at registration and check-in.
    • Coordinating security for high-profile events and external missions with local authorities, law enforcement and partner agencies — logistics, site assessments and emergency response.
    • Writing after-action reports and post-event analyses, and turning them into lessons and historical security records.
    • Briefing internal stakeholders at every level on security requirements, risk management and operational priorities.

    What you would bring

    • At least five years in security administration, risk management, criminology, public administration or industrial security, including responsibility for planning and executing security operations for high-profile events, international travel or multinational operations.
    • At least three years planning and running security for major events involving very important persons, senior leadership or large international operations.
    • A recognised risk management certification — for example project management professional or certified risk management professional — or another relevant security qualification. Counter-terrorism or crisis management certification is an asset.
    • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyse and interpret security data from open sources and other reporting, and to turn it into briefings, risk assessments and incident reports.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with stakeholders at every level, from senior leadership to local law enforcement.
    • Advanced office tooling, security databases and collaborative platforms, plus confident open-source research.
    • Fluent professional English.

This is a long engagement that renews year on year, not a short project.
