At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!
This role is part of Blue National Security (BNS), where our focus is the design, development, and delivery of launch and spacecraft systems for national security missions. Through Blue Ring, our all-in-one, high-powered hybrid solar-electric and chemical-propelled spacecraft, we provide unmatched mission maneuverability, versatility, and capacity at dramatically lower-profile costs.
Mission Planning Autonomy Engineer (Simulation & Modeling) - Blue Ring
Job Description
As part of a hardworking team of engineers and mission operators within Blue Ring's Ground & Spaceflight Operations (GSO) organization, you will work closely with space vehicle, flight dynamics, and mission operations teams to develop, test, and deploy autonomy for the Mission Planning System (MPS), the cloud-native ground software that plans, schedules, validates, and dispatches activities across a fleet of Blue Ring spacecraft. MPS turns operator, customer, and flight dynamics requests into conflict-free, constraint-checked timelines, ground station contact plans, and onboard command sequences.
As a Mission Planning Autonomy Engineer, you will help move Blue Ring ground operations from human-in-the-loop toward human-on-the-loop. You will build the deterministic planning and scheduling engines, resource models, and simulation environments that let MPS generate, repair, and safely execute plans with progressively less operator intervention - and you will build the evidence that proves each step is safe. This role can be filled as an autonomy-focused software engineer or as a simulation and modeling engineer; both work on the same problem from different sides. Join us in enabling Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth. Passion for our mission is required!
