Minuteman Technical Institute - P/T Evening - Welding Assistant Instructor - Grant Funded

This position is a part-time evening position within the Minuteman Technical Institute, with an anticipated start date of September 8, 2026, and an end date of June 30, 2027. Classes are held Monday -Thursday evenings, 3:30PM-8:30 PM. The candidate is required to have at least 3 years recent experience teaching or training. Applicants for this position will be expected to implement instruction with a strong focus on preparing participants for entry-level positions in the field upon program completion. This is a grant-funded position contingent upon the availability of funding. Courses are subject to sufficient enrollment and may be canceled prior to the start date if minimum enrollment is not met. Responsibilities and compensation are outlined below. Major Responsibilities:

• Assist the Lead Instructor to plan, implement and update a program of study based upon the Massachusetts Vocational/Technical Curriculum Frameworks and industry-recognized credentials that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students seeking employment in the field.
• Assist the Lead Instructor to partner with local business and industry experts for continuous program improvement.
• Assist the Lead Instructor to build a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students and maintain the condition of facilities.
• Assist the Lead Instructor to guide the learning process communicate objectives to post-secondary students.
• Assist the Lead Instructor to assess students on a regular basis.
• Assist the Lead Instructor to maintain all records for reporting grades, performance, and participation in industry-recognized credential trainings.
• Counsel with colleagues and post-secondary students on a regular basis.
• Assist the Lead Instructor to maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct.
• Assist in implementing MTI goals and policies related to the educational and operational needs of the MTI Program.
• Perform any other related task or duty at the direction of the Director of Adult, Community and Expanded Access Programming.

Qualifications:

• Must pass a CORI/SORI screening and provide proof of having submitted to fingerprinting per MA DESE guidelines.
• Ten or more years in the Welding or related field.
• Ten or more years of teaching experience.
• Citizenship, residency, or work VISA in the United States required.
• Current and relevant AWS certifications.
• Experience with student management.
• Current certification to teach OSHA 30 and NFPA Hot Work curricula.
• Must be familiar with all aspects of the Welding industry including: Blueprint Reading, OSHA and Hot Work, Hand and Power Tools, Safety.
• Ability to work as part of a team to foster a positive working relationship with students and staff.

Additional Requirements:

• This position includes but is not limited to: interacting with the public, walking around the school, observing students, standing for periods, occasionally lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds, reading documents, using a computer, listening and speaking, using office equipment, maintaining energy throughout the day, and handling stress effectively.

Terms of Employment:

• Part-Time.
• Monday - Thursday, 3:30PM - 8:30PM.
• Hours will vary based on District and student needs.
• Grant-funded position, contingent on the availability of funding and sufficient course enrollment.

Effective Dates of Employment:

• August 2026 - June 30, 2027.

• Director of Expanded Access.

Compensation:

• Compensation is $70.00 per hour.
