Minuteman Technical Institute - P/T Evening - Electrical Wiring Instructor

This position is a part-time evening Instructor position within the Minuteman Technical Institute, with an anticipated start of date of September 9, 2026 and end date of June 24, 2027, and runs Monday and Wednesday evenings 5:00PM - 9:30PM, and Saturdays 7:00AM - 3:00PM. The candidate for this position must be licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Chapter 74 Electrical Wiring instructor or a current Master Electrician license or have at least 5 years recent work experience with teaching experience and in process of obtaining a Chapter 74 Electrical Wiring license. Applicants for this position will be expected to implement instruction with a strong focus on Massachusetts Vocational Technical Curriculum Frameworks in Electrical Wiring. This is a grant-funded position contingent upon the availability of funding. Courses are subject to sufficient enrollment and may be canceled prior to the start date if minimum enrollment is not met. Responsibilities and compensation are outlined below. Major Responsibilities:

• Plan, implement and periodically update a program of study based upon the Massachusetts Vocational/Technical Curriculum Frameworks that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students seeking a post-secondary experience.
• Actively work with Program Advisory Board, local business and industries, and other industry experts for continuous program improvement.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of post-secondary students.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to post-secondary students.
• Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
• Assess post-secondary students on a regular basis and provide progress reports.
• Maintain all records necessary for reporting grades, performance, and the documentation of post-secondary students using MTI's competency tracking system.
• Track and maintain student classroom and work experience hours to sit for Journeyman's license and sign off on hours upon program completion.
• Counsel with colleagues and students on a regular basis.
• Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Prepare and/or assist in the development of a departmental budget.
• Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.

Qualifications:

• Licensed or licensable as a Chapter 74 Electricity Instructor by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required If not licensed, individuals must provide evidence of pursuing a MA Chapter 74 Electrical Instructor license, or: High school diploma or equivalent, Minimum of five years recent (within the last seven years) documented work experience directly related to electricity, Willingness to go through the application process for licensure.
• Possession of current Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician license.
• Possession of current Massachusetts Master Electrician license.
• OSHA 10-Hour Certification preferred.
• Knowledge of the Massachusetts Vocational Technical Curriculum Frameworks for Electrical Wiring is required.
• Previous experience with X2-Aspen grading system preferred but not required.
• Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required. Ability to work as part of a team to foster a positive working relationship with students and staff.

Additional Requirements:

• This position includes but is not limited to: interacting with the public, walking around the school, observing students, standing for periods, occasionally lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds, reading documents, using a computer, listening and speaking, using office equipment, maintaining energy throughout the day, and handling stress effectively.

Terms of Employment:

• Part-Time.
• Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:00PM - 9:30PM. Saturdays, 7:00AM - 3:00PM.
• Hours will vary based on District and student needs.

Effective Dates of Employment:

• August 2026 - June 30, 2027.

Compensation:

• Compensation is $100.00 per hour.
