Job Description
Sparta Networking is hiring a Milling Superintendent to lead asphalt milling operations across active roadway, street, and parking-lot projects. In this role you own the day-to-day production of one or more milling crews: planning the work, directing operators and laborers, holding the line on quality and grade, and keeping every job safe and on schedule. You report to the Project Manager and are the person on the ground who makes the milling plan happen.
Daily Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and direct the daily operations of one or more asphalt milling crews.
- Lead and coordinate operators, laborers, and equipment to meet production targets.
- Read and interpret site plans, construction drawings, and scopes of work, and set milling depth and grade to specification.
- Oversee the operation and upkeep of milling machines, skid steers, and support equipment.
- Enforce safety practices and DOT requirements on every jobsite and correct unsafe conditions immediately.
- Coordinate personnel, materials, and equipment on site and communicate progress and needs to the Project Manager.
- Maintain records on attendance, crew activity, and project reporting.
- Adjust the plan for weather, material delivery, and other unanticipated delays.
Requirements
Required
- Several years of asphalt milling or paving experience, including crew leadership or supervisory responsibility.
- Working knowledge of asphalt milling machines, grade control, and paving operations.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, jobsite safety, and DOT requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret site plans, drawings, and scopes of work.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Able to work outdoors in all conditions and travel between jobsites.
Preferred - Not Required
- Prior Milling Superintendent or Milling Crew Foreman experience.
- Valid CDL.
- Grade-control or survey familiarity.
