    Description

    Tempered and Specialty Metals is seeking a Mill Machine Tech for our Sterling Heights location. The Mille Machine Tech is responsible for assisting the Rolling Mill Machine Operator in the set up and completion of steel processes on the machine.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Mill Tech position. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.  

    • Assist the machine operator in operations on machine and/or repetitive machine operation duties.
    • Identify and stage coils for processing per machine schedule in computer to ensure maximum efficiency.
    • Set up machine by installing proper intermediate and work rolls per the incoming coil width.
    • Securely position work pieces on machine for processing.
    • Mark/tag identification on material after processed and update the computer system with appropriate data for the exact specifications.
    • Store material for additional processing and/or shipping.
    • Assist in quality control inspections.
    • Occasionally tend machine for proper functioning.
    • Restock material as needed.
    • Safely drive the Hi-lo through the plant to move coils and skids to designated areas and operate the over-head crane to move coils within the warehouse.
    • Keep immediate work area clean and organized throughout the day.
    • Use precision when operating tools such as tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and other production tools.
    • Inform operator of low stock on needed supplies.
    • Maintain facility, equipment, and vehicles.
    • Adhere to all TSM safety rules, regulations, and quality standards, handbook policies and procedures.

    Required Qualifications

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Proficient in basic computer operations and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 1+ year(s) experience with coiled steel processing
