Duties

- Implement classroom management techniques to foster a positive learning environment conducive to active participation.
- Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and project-based evaluations; provide timely feedback.
- Mentor students in developing strong writing skills, including copy editing, proofreading, and understanding AP style and the Chicago Manual of Style.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and participate in professional development focused on linguistics, journalism, and instructional strategies.
- Support students' social-emotional growth through behavior management techniques and personalized academic advising.
- Incorporate research skills into lessons to enhance students' information literacy and research capabilities.
- Engage in parent communication regarding student progress and participate in school-wide activities related to education administration.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics or related field; Master's preferred.
- Prior classroom experience teaching middle school students in diverse settings; private school experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional design tailored for middle school learners.
- Strong knowledge of classroom management strategies and behavior management techniques.
- Experience working with learning technology platforms and integrating digital tools into lessons.
- Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and literacy assessments to monitor student achievement.
