The Prairie School, a premier independent PreK–12 college preparatory school located on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan, seeks an inspiring and student-centered Middle School Division Head to lead grades 6–8 for the 2027/28 school year. Founded in 1965, The Prairie School serves 651 students in grades PreK–12 with a 7:1 student-teacher ratio and a strong tradition of academic excellence, leadership development, and individualized learning. 

Prairie is known for its challenging academics, exceptional faculty, small class sizes, thriving arts and athletics programs, and a deeply supportive community culture. The ideal candidate will be a visible, collaborative educational leader who values relationship-based learning, faculty mentorship, and the developmental needs of middle school students. 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the academic and student life programs for grades 6–8 
• Supervise, support, and evaluate faculty and staff 
• Foster a joyful, inclusive, and engaging middle school culture 
• Support student academic, social, and emotional growth 
• Partner closely with families, faculty, and school leadership 
• Advance curriculum innovation and educational excellence

• Demonstrated experience in middle school education and faculty supervision 
• Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building abilities 
• Commitment to collaboration, integrity, and student-centered leadership 
• Knowledge of current instructional and curricular best practices
