POSITION TITLE: Middle School Cheerleader Coach
DEPARTMENT: Romulus Middle School
REPORTS TO: Director of Athletics
PAY SCHEDULE: As per REA Collective Bargaining Agreement and experience
EFFECTIVE: Immediate
Qualifications:
- Must be available to perform coaching responsibilities, games and practices outside of your contractual day. (Daily contractual hours will not be modified to accommodate coaching schedule.)
- Cheer Coach experience preferred.
- Understanding of Michigan High School Athletic Association rules and regulations.
- Ability to communicate and work well with middle school students, parents, and the community.
- Michigan Certified Teacher preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Counsel students/athletes about scholarships and the importance of grades.
- Monitor grades of students/athletes in cheer program.
- Meet with parents of middle school cheer team prior to start of season.
- Assist with administering and implementing cheer camp, coaching clinic and youth cheer clinic in grades K-12 annually.
- Assist with preparing and submitting a yearly budget and bids to order necessary equipment for cheer program.
- Responsible for issuing and collecting uniforms and equipment to/from athletes and maintaining accurate uniform and equipment records.
- Assist with completing necessary paperwork for inventory, budgeting records, etc.
- Assist cheer teams in making decisions, planning events and implementing plans.
- Coordinate a practice schedule for the entire season.
- Teach and coach techniques and skills needed to ensure a successful cheer program.
- Be a positive role model and motivator.
- Assist with setting up Alumni cheer event during Football and Basketball seasons.
- Attend all meetings as required by the MHSAA and WWAC League.
- Perform other duties within the athletic department as assigned.
