The Middle School Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for providing leadership, instruction, and supervision for student-athletes participating in the middle school basketball program. The coach will focus on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, character, and fostering a positive athletic experience while preparing athletes for future success within the Weyauwega-Fremont Boys Basketball Program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and conduct practices that emphasize basketball fundamentals, skill development, teamwork, and player growth.
- Teach age-appropriate offensive and defensive concepts, game strategies, and basketball rules.
- Promote sportsmanship, integrity, discipline, accountability, and respect among student-athletes.
- Create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment that encourages participation and personal development.
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, contests, transportation, and team-related activities.
- Encourage effort, improvement, and a growth mindset while developing confidence and leadership skills.
- Work collaboratively with other basketball coaches to support program continuity and player development.
- Maintain effective communication with student-athletes, parents, school staff, and administration.
- Monitor and care for equipment, uniforms, and facilities.
- Attend required coaches'' meetings, athletic department meetings, and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all district policies, conference regulations, and WIAA guidelines.
- Promote academic success and positive citizenship among student-athletes.
- Assist with game management responsibilities as assigned.
