Title: Assistant Principal

Qualifications: Minimum certification to the Master's level in administration andsupervision and Leadership Certification

Reports to: Supervises: Principal

Job Goals:

Assists principal in supervising faculty, staff, and students


To relieve the principal of such impediments as prevent her/him from fulfilling his chief responsibility of promoting the educational well-being of each student in the school.

Performance Responsibilities:


  1. Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.
  2. Serves as principal in the absence of the regular principal.
  3. Assists in supervision of all programs and activities.
  4. Serves as School Improvement Coordinator and works with department heads and faculty members for school improvement.
  5. Assists in requisitioning supplies, textbooks, and equipment, maintaining records, and checking on receipts for such records.
  6. Cooperates in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practices activities.
  7. Assumes responsibility for custodial issues, cafeteria issues, and other support services as needed.
  8. Assists in reporting and monitoring of student attendance and assist the counselor with attendance and follow-up activities.
  9. Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body and deals with special cases as necessary.
  10. Serves with parents, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
  11. Performs such record-keeping functions as the principal may direct.
  12. Works with the administrative staff to ensure the successful implementation of all school events.
  13. Attends special events to recognize student achievement, school-sponsored activities, and functions.
  1. Conducts staff meetings.
  2. Develops and implements pro-active discipline approaches by monitoring lunchroom, hallways, and exterior perimeters of school.
  3. Evaluate assigned staff on a regular basis and per request by principal, organize staff development programs when necessary to improve staff deficiencies found through evaluation.
  4. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time.
  5. Performs all other duties as requested by the principal.
