Our client is seeking a Commercial Estimator to join their dynamic team. This critical role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of construction projects. You will be instrumental in ensuring the financial success of projects by creating precise budgets, managing procurement, and performing value engineering. This role requires a deep understanding of the construction industry and the ability to handle multiple tasks with precision and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
As a Commercial Estimator, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Preparing detailed cost estimates by analyzing the materials, labor, equipment, and time requirements for each project.
2. Evaluating and comparing supplier and subcontractor bids to ensure they meet project specifications and budget constraints.
3. Utilizing value engineering techniques to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve project efficiency.
4. Conducting risk assessments to anticipate potential project challenges and develop contingency plans.
5. Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and architects to understand project requirements and develop accurate estimates.
6. Analyzing project progress and adjusting cost estimates as necessary to reflect changes in project scope or timeline.
7. Overseeing the procurement process, including the selection and purchase of materials and equipment.
8. Keeping up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in construction estimating.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating.
2. Proven experience with project bidding, budgeting, cost analysis, value engineering, material take off (MTO), and procurement.
3. A solid understanding of construction processes, materials, and industry trends.
4. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make accurate calculations and estimates.
5. Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with a diverse team of professionals.
6. Proficiency in using construction estimating software and other relevant computer applications.
7. A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
