    Position Overview

We are seeking a Mid-Level DevSecOps Engineer to support the development and delivery of mission-critical technology solutions within a federal government environment.

This is a hands-on engineering role working as part of an integrated, cross-functional team that may include software developers, DevSecOps engineers, data scientists, business analysts, QA engineers, and other technical specialists.

The ideal candidate brings practical AWS experience, strong infrastructure automation and CI/CD capabilities, and an understanding of how security must be incorporated throughout the application delivery lifecycle. This role requires more than the ability to provision infrastructure. Candidates should understand how infrastructure, applications, security, and deployment processes work together to deliver a complete solution.

    What You’ll Do

    • Design, deploy, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure within Amazon Web Services (AWS)
    • Build and manage infrastructure using AWS CloudFormation
    • Develop, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines
    • Automate infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, configuration, and operational processes
    • Integrate security controls and practices throughout the software development and deployment lifecycle
    • Support applications operating within a Zero Trust security environment
    • Work closely with developers to ensure infrastructure is designed and configured appropriately for application requirements
    • Troubleshoot infrastructure, application deployment, configuration, and environment issues
    • Support both new system development and existing production applications
    • Participate in security implementation, validation, and testing activities
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and client teams to solve technical problems
    • Contribute to architecture and implementation discussions rather than simply executing predefined tasks
    • Adapt solutions as requirements and client priorities evolve

    Required Qualifications

    • Approximately 4–6 years of relevant DevSecOps, cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or related experience
    • Strong hands-on experience with AWS
    • Practical experience deploying and managing AWS infrastructure
    • Hands-on experience with AWS CloudFormation / Infrastructure as Code
    • Experience building, maintaining, or supporting CI/CD pipelines
    • Experience with infrastructure and deployment automation
    • Understanding of secure software development and deployment practices
    • Practical knowledge of implementing and testing security controls
    • Familiarity with Zero Trust security principles
    • Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work effectively within an integrated development and engineering team
    • Ability to apply technical knowledge to new or changing problems rather than relying solely on predefined procedures
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supporting technology solutions within a federal government or other highly regulated environment
    • Experience integrating cloud infrastructure directly with application development and deployment
    • Scripting or software development experience, particularly Python
    • Experience supporting production cloud applications
    • Familiarity with federal security and compliance requirements
    • Previous experience working within multidisciplinary Agile or software delivery teams
    • Experience communicating technical concepts to client stakeholders

    What Success Looks Like

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate practical technical capability, not simply familiarity with DevSecOps terminology or AWS services.

You should be able to explain systems you have personally built, deployed, configured, or supported; describe the technical decisions you made; troubleshoot problems in real time; and apply your experience to unfamiliar scenarios.

Candidates should expect a technically rigorous interview process that may include a live technical challenge designed to evaluate practical application of the skills represented on the candidate’s résumé.

    Federal Engagement Requirements

    • U.S. Citizenship is required
    • Candidate must be eligible to obtain a Federal Public Trust determination
    • This position requires regular onsite work in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, generally approximately two days per week
    • Occasional work at an additional client location within the greater DC/Northern Virginia region may be required

    Core Skills

AWS | DevSecOps | CloudFormation | Infrastructure as Code | CI/CD | Cloud Infrastructure | Deployment Automation | Security | Zero Trust | Application Infrastructure | Python | Federal Systems | Public Trust

    Candidate Profile

We are looking for engineers who can walk the talk.

A strong résumé is only the starting point. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate that they understand the technologies they claim to know, apply those skills to practical engineering problems, and adapt their thinking when requirements or circumstances change.

This environment values engineers who take ownership, work collaboratively across disciplines, communicate effectively, and help drive solutions rather than simply waiting to be handed a list of tasks.
