MicroStrategy Developer – Business Intelligence

Location: Merrifield, VA | USPS Engineering Systems Headquarters
Schedule: Onsite initially | 1 day/week telework after several months

MBA Consulting Services, Inc. (MBA CSi) is looking for an experienced MicroStrategy Developer to support a major Business Intelligence modernization initiative for the United States Postal Service (USPS).

This isn't simply a report-development position. You'll play a key role in moving USPS reporting capabilities forward by transforming legacy SAP Crystal Reports 4.3 reports into modern MicroStrategy reports, documents, dashboards, and interactive dossiers.

You'll take existing reports, understand the business logic behind them, and rebuild them in MicroStrategy—giving USPS leadership, engineers, analysts, and technical teams more effective ways to access and use critical business information.

What You'll Do

• Lead report modernization efforts by converting SAP Crystal Reports 4.3 reports into MicroStrategy reports, documents, dashboards, and interactive dossiers.
• Analyze existing Crystal Reports to uncover business rules, calculations, parameters, queries, and reporting logic before migration.
• Recreate legacy reporting functionality in MicroStrategy while maintaining data accuracy, usability, and functional parity.
• Build engaging, interactive BI solutions using MicroStrategy Developer and MicroStrategy Web.
• Work directly with Oracle databases and PL/SQL to develop, validate, and troubleshoot reporting solutions.
• Perform side-by-side validation of MicroStrategy and Crystal Reports outputs to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Troubleshoot reporting and data issues while optimizing MicroStrategy report performance.
• Manage and migrate MicroStrategy objects and reporting components using MicroStrategy Object Manager.
• Partner with engineers, analysts, and program stakeholders in an Agile development environment to turn business requirements into effective reporting solutions.
• Document report specifications, migration processes, configurations, and technical solutions to support long-term system maintenance.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.

• 5+ years of hands-on MicroStrategy development experience.
• Strong experience developing MicroStrategy reports, documents, dashboards, and dossiers.
• Experience migrating SAP Crystal Reports to MicroStrategy or transitioning legacy reports to another modern BI platform.
• Strong Oracle database and PL/SQL experience.
• Experience with MicroStrategy Developer, MicroStrategy Web, and Object Manager.
• Experience migrating and managing MicroStrategy objects across environments.
• Experience working within an Agile development environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel (pivot tables), Access, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
• Ability to work flexible hours when project needs require.

Work Location & Schedule

This position is based at the USPS Engineering Systems Headquarters in Merrifield, Virginia.

The role will begin onsite, allowing you to work directly with the technical and program teams supporting the modernization effort. After several months of successful onsite work, one day per week of telework is approved.

Clearance & Employment Requirements

Candidates must:

• Successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
• Be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
