We are seeking an experienced and outcomes driven Microsoft Platform Engineer to join the City of Falls Church Information Technology team. This position plays a key role in the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of our Microsoft 365 (M365) environment, which supports collaboration and productivity for approximately 300 staff across the organization.
Reporting to the Senior Systems Engineer, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong expertise across Microsoft 365 workloads and the Entra/Azure ecosystem within a GCC (Government Community Cloud) tenant. This engineer will serve as a trusted technical authority—informing platform direction, advancing adoption of emerging capabilities such as Microsoft Copilot, and ensuring the M365 environment consistently meets the City’s security, compliance, and operational standards.
The ideal applicant blends deep technical proficiency with the strategic perspective of a platform owner. They are intellectually curious, stay ahead of Microsoft’s evolving product roadmap, and are equally adept at architecting long-term solutions and resolving complex incidents. They cultivate strong relationships across IT and the broader organization, communicate with clarity and confidence, and bring a continuous improvement mindset to all aspects of their work.
