    Position Overview

    We are seeking an experienced Microbiologist to join the Quality Control team of a nutraceutical manufacturing company in Miramar, FL.

    The Microbiologist will be responsible for performing microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, and process water, as well as conducting environmental and personnel monitoring. This position plays an important role in maintaining a contamination-free manufacturing environment and ensuring compliance with cGMP standards, SOPs, USP methods, and FDA regulations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, and process water.
    • Conduct environmental and personnel monitoring within manufacturing and packaging areas.
    • Prepare and sterilize microbiological media, reagents, and laboratory supplies.
    • Maintain microbial cultures and reference organisms.
    • Inspect manufacturing equipment and personnel for potential sources of microbial contamination.
    • Review microbiological assay data and evaluate results against established specifications.
    • Identify and escalate OOS, out-of-trend, or anomalous results.
    • Maintain complete and accurate laboratory notebooks, logbooks, worksheets, and electronic records.
    • Support microbiological OOS investigations and root cause analysis.
    • Work closely with QA, Manufacturing, Packaging, and Purchasing to resolve microbiological and quality concerns.
    • Maintain the microbiology laboratory in a clean, organized, safe, and compliant condition.
    • Participate in training, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement activities.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biomedical Science, or a closely related science required.
    • Master’s degree in Microbiology or a related science preferred.
    • 1–2 years of microbiology laboratory experience within a cGMP-regulated pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, or dietary supplement manufacturing environment.
    • Hands-on knowledge of:
      • Plating
      • Media preparation
      • Organism identification
      • Environmental monitoring
      • Personnel monitoring
      • Water testing
    • Knowledge of cGMP, FDA regulations, and USP standards applicable to microbiological laboratory operations.
    • Ability to interpret microbiological assay data and follow written procedures accurately.
    • Strong documentation and data integrity skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand and work at laboratory benches for extended periods.
    • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
    • Comfortable working with microbiological cultures, laboratory chemicals, reagents, and product samples.
    • Must follow PPE requirements, including gloves, lab coat, and eye protection.
