    Position Summary:

    Our group leader will excel at leading a team of degreed engineers in completing civil and site engineering projects. The civil engineering team provides an important service to our base of over 70 municipal clients. This team delivers successful pipeline, site, stormwater, and paving projects. The desire to manage projects and client relationships is a plus.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Lead analysis, planning, and management of civil engineering and site design projects for municipal projects
    • Manage teams performing underground utility and site design, cost estimating, and report preparation.
    • Develop, maintain, and expand client relationships while generating new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
    • Deliver public presentations to technical and non-technical audiences and support technical marketing initiatives.
    • Collaborate with operations management to determine project staffing needs and balance monthly labor forecasts.
    • Ensure technical accuracy, adherence to engineering standards, and proper documentation across reports and design projects.
    • Evaluate project alternatives, resolve technical challenges, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
    • Meet financial performance goals related to backlog, utilization, and invoicing.
    • Lead and support business development efforts, including proposal development, scope writing, and pricing.
    • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in underground utilities and site development
    • Identify strategic hiring needs and develop recruiting plans to support growth across the Michigan region.
    • Manage, mentor, and develop staff, fostering professional growth and succession planning.
    • Additional duties as required.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required;
    • 8+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience.
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering.
    • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
    • Active participation in industry and technical organizations, ASCE, AWWA and WEF
    • Extensive experience in underground utilities and site development
    • Experience with administering construction contracts
    • Strong ability to analyze, interpret, and apply engineering fundamentals to deliver real-world engineering solutions.
    • Proven experience leading conceptual and preliminary project design efforts
    • Effective communication skills for coordinating with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
    • Willingness and ability to travel periodically, approximately 15% or more as required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Certifications from the Construction Specification Institute
    • Certified industrial stormwater operator
    • Prior supervisor experience a plus
