Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and patient-focused Patient Food Services Manager to oversee the daily operations of our patient dining program within a hospital setting. The Patient Food Services Manager is responsible for ensuring exceptional patient meal service, regulatory compliance, food safety standards, team leadership, and operational excellence.

This leader will partner closely with clinical nutrition, nursing, and hospital leadership teams to deliver a high-quality patient dining experience that supports patient satisfaction, nutritional care, and overall clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Experience & Service Excellence

• Lead all patient meal service operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compassionate service.
• Monitor patient satisfaction scores and implement action plans to improve service outcomes.
• Resolve patient concerns and service recovery opportunities promptly and professionally.
• Collaborate with clinical nutrition and nursing teams to support patient-centered dining initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with therapeutic diets and physician-ordered nutritional requirements.

Operations Management

• Manage day-to-day patient food service activities, including tray assembly, meal delivery, sanitation, and patient feeding operations.
• Ensure meal delivery standards are consistently met.
• Monitor productivity, staffing levels, labor utilization, and workflow efficiencies.
• Conduct routine audits of food quality, tray accuracy, service standards, and department performance.
• Maintain inventory controls and support purchasing initiatives.

Leadership & Team Development

• Hire, train, coach, and develop frontline and supervisory team members.
• Conduct performance evaluations and manage employee engagement initiatives.
• Ensure proper staffing levels and scheduling to support operational needs.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and hospitality.

Financial Management

• Support departmental budget objectives and cost-control initiatives.
• Monitor labor costs, food costs, inventory levels, and waste reduction programs.
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements and financial efficiencies.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Food Service Management, Nutrition, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Minimum of 3 years of food service management experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in healthcare, hospital, senior living, or related food service environments.
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Experience managing teams in a high-volume service environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and food service technology systems.

Preferred

• Hospital patient dining experience.
• Certified Dietary Manager (CDM, CFPP).
• Registered Dietitian (RD) or dietetic coursework.
• ServSafe Manager Certification.
• Experience with patient room service or hotel-style dining programs.
• Experience with electronic meal ordering systems and patient satisfaction improvement initiatives.
