Responsibilities:

The Multi-Facility CDI Manager is responsible for implementation and improvement of the clinical documentation improvement program at the facilities in the designated region and supervises clinical documentation specialists (CDS) and inpatient coders. The Multi-Facility CDI manager ensures Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) and inpatient coders perform their designated tasks synergistically with other departments and personnel concerned. The Multi-Facility CDI Manager will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Director of HIM at the individual facility to be instrumental in supplementing assistance to these departmental functions pertaining to clinical documentation and inpatient coding.  The Multi-Facility CDI Manager will work closely with the medical staff to formulate strategies to improvement quality of clinical documentation. Other responsibilities include as designated by the given supervisor(s).

Qualifications:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

Required Qualifications:

 

1.    Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in medicine/ surgery or license as physician assistant or registered nurse.

2.    Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a clinical documentation specialist

3.    Certified Coding Specialist Certificate (CCS) or acquiring CCS certification within 6 months of assuming the position.

4.    Strong broad-based clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology / physiology of disease processes.

5.    Excellent written and verbal communication skills with assertive personality. Excellent critical thinking skills.

6.    Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective partnering relationships with physicians, nurse staff, coding staff and hospital management staff.

7.    Computer literacy and familiarity with the operation of basic office equipment.

8.    Knowledge of care delivery documentation systems and related medical record documents.

9.    Knowledge of age-specific needs and the elements of disease processes and related procedures.

10.  Possess the ability to work with minimum supervision, the ability to function in a stressful environment, the ability to encourage and assist with team building, and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information, both patient and employee.

11.  Working knowledge of Medicare reimbursement system and coding structures
