Job Summary
The Communications Manager will help the department''s communication needs and serve as a key liaison with the Scott & White Marketing Communications group. They will work collaboratively to provide all employees with compelling communications that convey key messages and use existing communication and messaging. The Communications Manager will manage strategic communication programs for their department and Scott & White internal business partners. They will define priorities for effective communication and create innovative solutions consistent with the Scott & White Mission, Vision, and Values.
Essential Functions of the Role
Uses writing and editing skills to create the content and direction of a variety of communications.
Aligns internal and external messages to present a unified organization. Promotes the company''s mission, vision, values, programs, and services through daily communication strategies and tactics.
Manages innovative resources like writing, design, production, and delivery. Oversees the development process to create engaging communications. Manages cost and ensures on-time delivery of projects.
Guides and directs internal teams and external vendors to deliver world-class communications.
Monitors and measures results to ensure priorities are met.
Works with Marketing Communication Team (MarCom).
Works to clearly define communications projects, ensuring they have a solid business case, serve a clear need, and meet department and MarCom standards. Works with other Scott & White departments on projects.
Serves as a proxy for the employee point-of-view on all development projects.
Human Resources Department Specific Responsibilities:
Executes key HR communication priorities.
Advises senior leadership on communication methods that enhance Scott & White''s image. Promotes its brand and aligns employees with strategic initiatives.
Manages content for Scott & White Careers website and optimizes the site as a recruitment tool.
With the HR and MarCom teams, develops strategic recruitment marketing and employee communication strategies. This includes the Scott & White employee brand and strategies across traditional and new media.
Helps employee development efforts, including annual United Way appeal and internal employee fundraising programs.
Key Success Factors
At least five years communications experience, preferably with a focus on the department helping (HR, IT, Marketing, etc.).
Experience in a healthcare environment a plus.
Working knowledge of department disciplines.
Experience writing and editing in a variety of styles.
Solid strategic thinking and expertise in employee communication programs.
Ability to work collaboratively within and across organizations to achieve results, and develop organizational knowledge and sophistication.
Ability to work autonomously to meet specs and deadlines with minimal supervision.
Ability to manage innovative resources, both internal and external.
Solid experience working with social media solutions.
Proficiency in common workplace applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and other web and email applications.
Ability to manage media selection across all media channels, including social media, resulting in relevant, effective and engaging communications.
