    Position Overview

    Lead/Support and transform the Japan Manufacturing Engineering organization. Drive strategic initiatives to close performance gaps with regional benchmarks, enhance equipment reliability, and build a high-performing team capable of supporting rapid product launches while maintaining sustainable operations and technical competency.

    The role requires a visionary leader who can balance technical depth with strong people management to elevate the Japan ME function from reactive troubleshooting to proactive process/quality optimization and wasting elimination.

    Job Requirements

    Required Qualifications

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field
    • Master's degree preferred

    Experience

    • 10+ years in manufacturing engineering within high-volume production environment
    • 5+ years in leadership roles managing engineering teams (minimum 15+ engineers)
    • Proven track record in automotive, electronics, or precision manufacturing industries
    • Experience leading organizational transformation and change management initiatives
    • Demonstrated success in NPI/product launch support and sustaining engineering

    Technical Competencies

    • Deep expertise in manufacturing processes: injection molding, automated assembly….
    • Strong knowledge of equipment troubleshooting, maintenance strategies, and process optimization
    • Proficiency in root cause analysis methodologies (8D, 5-Why, DMAIC, Fishbone)
    • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma principles
    • Familiarity with automation technologies, robotics, and Industry 4.0 concepts

    What your background should look like

    Generally requires Bachelors degree in appropriate field with a minimum of 8 years of experience; Masters degree or higher or local equivalent may be preferred at this level
