    Description

    The role will partner closely with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and external calibration/service providers to ensure measurement systems are capable, compliant, and appropriate for product requirements.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Develop and implement a comprehensive metrology program that establishes standardized measurement and inspection practices across the organization.
    - Establish measurement strategies and best practices for dimensional inspection, gaging, CMM inspection, etc.
    - Evaluate existing measurement practices and identify opportunities for improvement
    - Serve as the organization's technical authority for metrology, dimensional inspection, measurement systems, and calibration
    - Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive calibration and gage control program
    - Establish requirements for equipment identification, calibration status, traceability, handling, and control.
    - Develop risk-based methodologies for establishing and reviewing calibration intervals
    - Ensure calibration activities maintain appropriate traceability
    - Develop and monitor calibration program KPIs
    - Ensure calibration and gage records are complete, accurate, traceable, and maintained
    - Coordinate external calibration activities, on-site and off-site,
    monitoring supplier performance
    - Identify opportunities to transition appropriate calibration activities from external providers to internal capabilities.
    - Develop internal calibration capabilities based on feasibility, risk, equipment population, cost, and organizational needs.
    - Develop internal calibration procedures, work instructions, standards, methods, and acceptance criteria.
    - Establish requirements for conducting Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies and other appropriate measurement system evaluations.
    - Provide leadership and technical oversight for CMM programming and dimensional inspection activities.
    - Develop a structured metrology and measurement training program for employees involved in manufacturing, inspection, engineering, and quality activities.
    - Establish competency requirements and qualification criteria for Metrologists, CMM Programmers, Inspectors, and other personnel performing measurement activities.
    - Manage workload, priorities, resources, and project assignments across the metrology function.

    CANDIDATE PROFILE

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    - Strong knowledge of calibration systems, gage control, measurement traceability, and dimensional inspection.
    - Demonstrated experience with CMM programming and/or CMM inspection methodologies.
    - Working knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretation.
    - Experience with MSA, including GR&R and correlation studies
    - Understanding of measurement uncertainty, measurement capability, and traceability principles.
    - ERP/MRP knowledge is required. IFS would be a plus.
    - Must be detail oriented, organized, skilled at problem solving, be assertive, diligent, and have ability to multitask.
    - Must have excellent communication skills and display the ability for collaboration, and sound decision making.
    - Must be a team player, set agendas and stick to task and plan.
    - Knowledge of applicable quality and calibration standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3

    Education & Experience

    - Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial) or a related technical discipline
    - 5-10 years of related experience, with strong knowledge of calibration systems, gage control, and measurement systems
    - Experience building a metrology program
    - Previous supervisory or people management experience required
    - ASQ (or equivalent) certification strongly preferred
