| WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Slate is seeking a motivated Metrology Engineer to join our growing team. This role is ideal for candidates with demonstrated entry-level to junior engineering experience who are eager to build technical skills in metrology, manufacturing quality, and laboratory operations. You will work closely with experienced engineers, quality, and production teams while gaining exposure to real‑world manufacturing and launch environments. 

This is a strong opportunity to develop hands‑on experience with advanced measurement technologies while contributing directly to product quality and continuous improvement. We welcome applicants with developing technical skills who are eager to grow.

| WORK AUTHORIZATION REQUIREMENT:

Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship at this time.

| WHAT YOU GET TO DO:

  • Support calibration, measurement, and testing of equipment and components using established procedures and industry standards (e.g., ISO 17025)  
  • Learn to operate and maintain metrology equipment, including blue‑light laser scanners, portable scanning arms, hand gauges, and other measurement tools  
  • Perform routine inspections and verification activities to ensure measurement accuracy and system reliability  
  • Document calibration procedures, inspection results, and equipment records with strong attention to detail  
  • Support day‑to‑day laboratory operations, including instrument upkeep and quality assurance practices  
  • Assist with troubleshooting measurement systems and laboratory equipment, with guidance from senior engineers  
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to support manufacturing, launch, and research activities  
  • Participate in internal audits, reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives  
  • Follow all safety and quality protocols to maintain a safe and compliant lab and manufacturing environment  
  • Stay engaged in learning new tools, software, and measurement methods as technologies and processes evolve  
  • Perform other duties as assigned related to metrology and laboratory support 

| WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:

  • 8+ years related experience with Bachelor's degree, 6 years with Master's degree, 3 years with PhD or equivalent experience  in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or similar).
  • Ability to quickly learn metrology software; experience with PolyWorks, ZEISS Inspect Pro, ATOS ScanBox, or scanning arms is a plus but not required  
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis and communication  
  • Willingness to learn GD&T and read technical drawings  
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing or quality concepts (APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, etc.) is a plus  
  • Strong teamwork mindset and willingness to collaborate across functions  
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage tasks in a fast‑paced engineering environment  
  • Comfortable performing hands‑on work, including lifting or handling equipment up to 50 lbs as needed 

| SALARY RANGE:

The compensation  for this position is the range Slate reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; work location; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Base Pay Range (Annual)

79,386.27 - 99,232.84 - 119,079.41 USD Annual
