Job Overview

The Sales Manager is responsible for the overall sales performance of New Life's company-owned locations and national service repair market segment in the regions. This leader drives revenue and gross profit growth, ensuring consistent sales process execution across sales teams. The Sales Manager provides day-to-day sales leadership, strengthens customer and branch relationships, and ensures the business is positioned for profitable growth.

Core Functions

• Sales Strategy Development
• • Develop a compelling sales strategy for retail local parts sales, aligning execution to the commercial operation’s revenue and gross profit goals.
  • Assume responsibility for and grow national service repair customers as a core market segment alongside retail local parts sales, including shop-level account development and fleet interface.
  • Identify opportunities across product lines and customer segments within the commercial operations market to drive growth through actionable plans.
  • Monitor local competitive landscape and customer needs to inform sales strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Commercial Operations and People Operations, Business Process Technology, Operations, Product Marketing and Supply Chain shared resources to reach goals.
• Financial Optimization
• • Manage sales performance with discipline to exceed budget revenue and gross profit targets.
  • Drive point of sale gross profit percentage increases through mix to exceed budget.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting for the commercial operations sales organization.
  • Manage resources effectively, ensuring maximum return on investment.
• Sales Process Excellence
• • Design and sustain a customer-first culture.
  • Champion data-driven decision-making and use technology to track performance and identify improvements.
  • Ensure all sales team members know the full product catalog and what categories to drive at what market segments.
  • Identify and report weekly on key performance indicators (KPIs) to the larger group to foster competition.
  • Hold all sales employees accountable to established sales processes.
• Management and Team Development
• • Supports the team by solving complex problems and making substantial decisions that impact them.
  • Models all safety and compliance procedures and hold others accountable to them.
  • Responsible for managing and approving employee leave and timecards, as well as reinforcing timekeeping and attendance requirements with employees.
  • Guide teams to develop reliable processes and procedures that produce results and ensure execution from the team.
  • Act as a company representative by managing change, communicating proactively and regularly setting goals and clarifying expectations. 
  • Critically think through decisions to maximize impact. 
  • Run operations effectively through delegation, resource utilization, and budget management. 
  • Safeguard the company through incident and conflict management. 
  • Participate in and help manage the full employee life cycle.

Competencies and Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in operations or business OR 5+ years of outside sales or sales leadership experience.
• Previous retail or wholesale parts sales leadership experience preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of retail sales and national service repair market segments and performance metrics.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products.
• Experience with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. 
• Proven success in meeting and exceeding sales KPIs.
• Previous success in continuous process improvement.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  
• Ability to provide personable and professional customer service with a solution-oriented mindset.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking, and time management skills.
• Strong active listening and strategic influencing skills.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. Infrequently.  
• Travel required: 50% to Metro and customer locations. 
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.   
• In-branch/in-office position when not traveling.
