As the Metals Distribution Operations Supervisor, you will steer end-to-end warehouse operations with a focus on safety, production effectiveness, continuous improvement, superior quality, on-time customer fulfillment, and disciplined cost control. What a Typical Day Looks Like
Kick off the shift with a safety huddle, reinforce PPE usage, and walk the floor to verify a safe, accident-free environment; ensure monthly safety inspections are completed on time and any hazards are quickly corrected.
Execute daily production and shipment schedules and remove roadblocks to achieve on-time delivery while meeting customer requirements.
Review daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual KPI dashboards, spot performance gaps, and launch countermeasures.
Coordinate closely with Sales and Production Planning to process and ship orders accurately and on schedule; maintain and publish equipment lead-times daily so Sales can commit with confidence.
Maximize equipment utilization; ensure all preventative maintenance and inspections are performed on time and documented.
Identify bottlenecks and capacity constraints early and realign plans to protect commitments.
Drive a 5S culture and implement rigorous housekeeping standards inside and outside the warehouse throughout the day.
Partner with the CI Manager to instill and sustain a Continuous Improvement mindset across all warehouse levels.
Ensure reliable processes to stock and replenish operational and safety supplies.
Oversee receiving, put-away, picking, packaging, and shipping to meet specification and damage-free delivery requirements.
Safeguard inventory integrity through daily cycle counts; maintain accuracy for heat lot traceability, quantities, and locations; control scrap in alignment with the scrap disposition policy.
Champion ISO conformance and 100% compliance to internal and customer quality requirements (specifications, dimensions, heat code traceability, export compliance, packaging, and more).
Model and maintain a culture consistent with the UPM and ONI Code of Conduct and Ethics policy; uphold company Quality Policy, Ethics Guidelines, Safety and Environmental Policies, and all governing procedures.
Ensure accountability for OSHA and EPA compliance within warehouse operations.
Lead hiring and performance reviews with HR partnership; set quantitative goals aligned to Operations, UPM, and ONI Key Strategic Objectives; complete annual reviews and implement training/development plans, including coaching for unacceptable performance or behavior.
Run cost control initiatives and track cost savings/avoidance projects that deliver year-over-year reductions in operational expenses.

Experience & Education
Associate degree in a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt certification required (or a defined path to certification).
5+ years of effective leadership experience.
5+ years in manufacturing, distribution, and/or warehouse operations.
