Metal Fabrication Supervisor positions plan, schedule, lay out, and assign work to welders, machinists, body and fender mechanics, and equipment painters engaged in repairing and overhauling automotive and industrial equipment; design and draw sketches for metal fabrication jobs; prepare budget, cost estimate, and work schedules; prepare and approve orders for repair parts and materials; enforce safety regulations; maintain records and prepare reports; train and evaluate the work performance of subordinates; and perform other duties as assigned.
NOTES:
Employees in job classifications represented by Municipal Employees Association (MEA) are scheduled to receive the following general wage increases:
3.5% effective 7/1/27
2% effective 7/1/28
2% effective 1/1/29
Eligible benefitted employees originally hired on or after July 10, 2021, will be automatically enrolled in the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS).
Metal Fabrication Supervisor employees may be required to work weekends and holidays.
Metal Fabrication Supervisor employees may be required to work night, rotating, or unusual shift work for an extended period of time for which they may receive 5% additional pay.
Metal Fabrication Supervisor employees who operate, service, or repair commercial vehicles are required by California State law, as a condition of employment, to submit to drug and alcohol testing. Prior to hire, former employers will be contacted regarding drug and alcohol testing results.
