About the Role:Metspec Inc is looking for a talented Metal Fabrication CAD Designer to join our team in Monterey, CA! In this role, you'll bring precision engineering and creative problem-solving together to design metal components and assemblies that go from concept to production. If you thrive in a hands-on technical environment and have a passion for fabrication, we want to hear from you. This postion involves working on custom work, not repetitive drafting. The opportunity to work on one-of-a-kind architectural and specialty metal projects.
Direct collaboration with fabricators. The successful candidate will see how their drawings translate into actual finished work. This is a full time in person position.
Responsibilities:- Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models for custom metal fabrication projects
- Develop shop drawings, material call outs and cut lists for project coordinators
- Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and project managers to ensure design accuracy
- Review and interpret client specifications, blueprints, and technical requirements
- Perform design revisions and updates based on engineering feedback or field conditions
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, tolerances, and fabrication best practices
- Support estimating and quoting processes with accurate material takeoffs
Requirements:- Experience in metal fabrication, stair and rail detailing is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar platforms
- 2+ years of experience in metal fabrication design or structural drafting
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to coordinate revisions and resolve questions
- Associate's degree or technical certification in drafting, engineering, or related field preferred
