About Tom Green & Company Engineers

TGCE is an MEP engineering firm founded in Austin in 1985. About 30 of us work together in our Austin office, and we have completed more than 1,600 projects across higher education, healthcare, research, K-12, civic, hospitality, and historic preservation, for clients such as the University of Texas and MD Anderson. Beyond design, we provide commissioning, troubleshooting, and forensic services. We run the business conservatively, with no debt, and our average employee has been here about ten years.

The role

You will design building HVAC and plumbing systems under the review of experienced PEs: load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork and piping, plumbing, schedules, and specifications. You will support forensic investigations, help assess existing buildings for renovations and repairs, and get out on job sites to see how your designs are built. As you earn your PE, you will take on ownership of your own projects.

What we are looking for:

• A passed FE exam or EIT certification, with your PE in sight over the next year or two
• A few years of hands-on building mechanical design at an MEP or A/E firm, including the calculations behind your drawings
• Load calculation software and Revit or AutoCAD
• Curiosity about why systems fail, and the ability to work in our Austin office
