TGCE gives a licensed electrical engineer two kinds of work that rarely come together at a firm our size. The first is data center design, a fast-growing part of our electrical practice. The second is forensic: construction defect and errors-and-omissions cases where we are brought in as the expert to find out what went wrong in a building and why. About Tom Green & Company Engineers

TGCE is an MEP engineering firm founded in Austin in 1985. About 30 of us work together in our Austin office, and we have completed more than 1,600 projects across higher education, healthcare, research, K-12, civic, hospitality, and historic preservation, for clients such as the University of Texas and MD Anderson. Beyond design, we provide commissioning, troubleshooting, and forensic services. We run the business conservatively, with no debt, and our average employee has been here about ten years.

The role

You will own the electrical design of projects from schematic design through construction administration: service and distribution, power, lighting, and low-voltage systems, with the studies, specifications, and drawings behind them, stamped by you. Data center projects will be a large share of your work. You will also lead electrical analysis on forensic cases and spend real time on job sites. This is a producing role at every level of experience. We need engineers who design, calculate, and solve problems, not people whose main job is managing others.

What we are looking for:

• An active PE license in Texas, or one that transfers to Texas by comity
• Roughly five to twenty years designing building electrical systems at an MEP or A/E firm
• Projects you have owned end to end, with the NEC and energy code second nature
• Comfort in the field and the ability to work in our Austin office
